BLUEPRINT READING COURSE
Overview
Blueprint reading is an essential skill that is used in all facets of construction, especially supervisory and construction management. The first step in any construction job is giving out a bid or estimating the work to be done, and the ability to read blueprints is a critical component in this process. With this in mind, this course gives students a strong foundation in the basics of understanding and reading blueprints.
Course Description:
This course is designed to take students through the beginning stages of residential blueprint reading, including dimensions, elevation drawings, specifications, schedules and their use, terms and nomenclature. This course starts with the basic concepts of proper and effective blueprint reading and ends with the more advanced methodologies. Graduating students will move forward with an intermediate level of residential blueprint reading.
Length of Course:
The course is taught over a period of four weeks, primarily during late afternoon and evening classes.
